Welcome to Kitsch Forum

In this Kitsch Forum you can experience the first objective Kitsch aesthetic - theory in history. With the painting as our main object for study, it will tell you stories about two ideal types – two value systems: Art and Kitsch.

This means that not all agents – in our context the artist and the kitsch producer - has to fall under Nerdrums and mine definitions in the following pages.

The objective Kitsch theory is an enriching experience about sensuality, sensibility, human personality and is therefore a great and unique salute to the dignified individual.

Kitsch is so easy to grasp and understand, no matter what kind of explanation you choose to select in our Kitsch Forum.

You know when you have had meetings with Kitsch in the history of Art, because Kitsch comes directly to you, and not the other way around. You notice and feel it at once during one glance of in great masterpieces (look at masterpieces – the best of everything). With over 60 masterpieces, and a menu with a little taste from the world of Odd Nerdrum and Ayn Rands universe, there are original, manifold and comprehensive articles for each individual reader that will enrich the understandings about Odd Nerdrums definition on Kitsch.

Odd Nerdrum and Hanna Cecilie Skurdal wants with this Kitsch Forum give the respect and integrity back to the individual, the human abilities and talent. They encourage their readers to embrace and keep their own integrity and dignity, and not give it away to a higher individual: The Collective – Art.

Collectivism claims itself to be a higher moral authority – an identity outside and over the individual witch often result in: individuals finding themselves out of control.

Being “trendy” and “in” is simply just following the fashion collective with their dictators. Being “original” is nothing more than an agent following the “correct” rules in the game made by the field of Art – an authority and legatime collective.

The artist isn’t an original, free and boarder blowing agent. The artist is rather an agent who is determined by the State, politics and Art world: the good value system.

The artist as a genius is nothing more than an agent who claims that his or hers actions is not done in consciousness. They claim that they don’t know what and why they do what they do. These actions seen from this Forums view is not unconscious, but pure conscious tactic: they say their actions are mystical so that the Art World gets the invitation they demand. They demand that we suppress our own cognitive faculty so that they can label the artist actions definitions.

The “genius” – the artist- follows the Kantian moral duty and plays along. The “genius” defenses his or hers work of art by saying: “I don’t know what I have done or what it means…everything came so sudden…like a spirit that took place in my body”. The artist has hidden cards in his hand and shows with his dramaturgic poker-face that he “really is” in contact with something witch is impossible for the audience to grasp and understand.

While the artists and Art world is busy laughing and playing this very famous H.C Andersen fairytale, the spectator is left behind feeling emptier and lost than ever.

The so called myths of individualism has perverted the human mind for far too long, and it is by time to awaken the alternative that brings the existence, identity and consciousness back to the human being.

Odd Nerdrum declaration of him being a Kitsch Painter should in this Kitsch Forum give its full meaning and in the same time enrich you with the possibility to choose and feel that you really exist. Your personal feeling – your “sense of life”- the acknowledgement of your existence will return to you from a long sleep .Its a present from us to you.

A journey and dialogues through Kitsch Forum with all its sensuality will give you the greatest gift: You will feel awakened and alive that you haven’t felt in a very long time. Maybe ever…
