"We should be gratefull for the technique Rembrandt used. He painted on dark cancvas like the other Dutchmen. But...in spite of his colleagues , he layed lawyers and thick painting on immediately. This result in that while other paintings die a bit after bit, his thick impesto holds the light in place."
