The fascinating theme in this Kitsch Forum is that Ayn Rand was scientifically wrong in using the aesthetic definition: Romantic Realist.

If she had lived today and experienced and acknowledged Nerdrums definition on Kitsch, and Skurdal’s scientific work with Rands philosophy and the objective Kitsch theory, she wouldn’t have met all the scientific contradictions that occur in her current aesthetic theory. And believe it: Ayn Rand hated scientific contradictions!

One example: Capitalism or liberalism. You should see how Scandinavians and Europeans are using this term in theory and practice. The consequences are often bad politics, lack of individual freedom and responsibility, and lots of taxes.

Any way…Hermann Broch says that you can’t separate Kitsch from romanticism (Hermann Broch 1930). Skurdal has shown and explained quite the opposite, and in her philosophical defense on Nerdrum Kitsch you will find marked difference between the two epochs which are huge in their consequences: For Ayn Rand and Odd Nerdrum.

Rand claimed that: “definitions are the guardians of rationality, the first line of defense against the chaos of mental disintegration” (Romantic Manifesto årstall…).She was extremely consistent on not having any elements from Plato, Kant and Hegel in her own philosophical system – Objectivism, because it makes a lot of contradictions. Unfortunately, her Kantian “romantic realist” definition creates these scientific contradictions.

The scientific work done by Hanna Cecilie Skurdal has never seen the light, and it shows the logical aspect that Ayn Rand’s aesthetic theory and literature are Kitsch NOT “romantic realist”.
Skurdal’s thesis on Objectivism as the philosophical systems that constitute and give Kitsch its validity.This gives us the first objective Kitsch theory and a pure objective aesthetic theory.

Ayn Rands philosophical system is a closed system. Hanna Cecilie Skurdals scientific works is only a supplement, but a necessary one.

In reference to readers familiar with Ayn Rands ideas, and to new beginners we will continue to use Rands definitions: ART and ROMANTIC REALIST in Kitsch Forums text. BUT: when the observant reader has read Skurdals scientific works (currently working on a scientific masterpiece with Odd Nerdrum 2005), and has tasted some of it here in Kitsch Forum, the valid aesthetic definition will come to its existence.
