Hanna Cecilie Skurdal (b.1978) has a “Bachelor degree in Marketing Communication” from The Norwegian School of Management BI; School of Marketing (NMH) (2001), and is currently a ‘Master of Social Science” candidate at the University in Oslo, Norway (2005).

She has a wide interest in scientific and academic issues, concerning philosophy, sociology, political history and aesthetic theory. Her passion lies in the acknowledgment that ideas move the world. Her talent and brilliant focus on relationships between theory and practice is the reason why she specialized in Sociology.

Hanna Cecilie Skurdal has always been interested in Odd Nerdrums pictures. When Odd Nerdrum declared himself Kitsch, and she read about the Kitsch definition in “On Kitsch”, she started a scientific research which appeared to be a revolutionary work that made history. In the year 2001 she wrote the first rational philosophical defense on Kitsch, there she found that Odd Nerdrums aesthetic definition on Kitsch can have a valid philosophical scientific ‘defense’; from metaphysics (the bottom) too aesthetic (the top).

Her discovery was that Odd Nerdrums Kitsch could exist under the philosopher and novelist Ayn Rand’s philosophical system: Objectivism.

For the first time in history you will see thesis and arguments that separates Kitsch from Romanticism. Ayn Rand claimed to be a Romantic Realist. Skurdal tried to show why Ayn Rands aesthetics should be Kitsch in light of Nerdrums definition. Her first article touches the issue on how to have rational arguments on feelings and how you can make a pure objective judgment in aesthetics.

Skurdal has also held lectures on her theories at Universities in Norway, with great honors from the field of philosophy.

Skurdal has made the term objectivity shrugge in the field of ethics and aesthetics’.

(Currently working on a scientific masterpiece exploring these thesis in theory and practice with Odd Nerdrum).

Where other aesthetic theories concerns itself with the transcendental objectivity (empirical and idealistic), and following transcendental values in terms of the indefinable and untouchable in the transcendental reality, Skurdal’s Objective Kitsch theory limit itself to the external objective reality, which is available for everyone to grasp with their own independent senses and faculty of reason.

Odd Nerdrum has given Hanna Cecile Skurdal the best attest she ever will get. In having a great respect for her works. That is mutual.

In life and experience you search as a human being after values of joy, courage and volition. That is why the parallel between Ayn Rand and Odd Nerdrum is so important, since it gives us the opportunity to choose: existence exists.

They are no working on getting this ideas and thoughts to the audience … you….
